Change Your Shoes with Instagram

3 MIN READ

Instagram has been one of the true standouts in the realm of mobile application development. This hip little app has transformed our sharp, digital photos into fuzzy vintage snapshots complete with psychedelic flesh tones and yellow-orange light leaks. But now, big brands like Nike are taking Instagram to the next level.

Nike and their mobile application development folks have just launched an app that uses Instagram to change your very shoes. Here’s how it works. Log in at photoid.nike.com, choose your favorite pair of Nike Air Max and the Instagram filter that suits your mood. Then simply use the Instagram retro palette to determine the colors of the shoes. Then all that’s left to do is to order them online. Air Max shoes personalized to you. The selection is endless: Sunset orange, gunmetal blue, asphalt gray, Union Jack red, white and blue–-you name it.

Mercedes-Benz has also been keeping their mobile application development team busy. As part of their Untamed marketing campaign, Mercedes CLA enthusiasts were invited to upload Instagram images of their favorite car combined with their favorite effects. The winning entries were then included in an international photo installation hosted in Paris, France. Pretty cool.

Companies like Burberry, Tiffany and American Express have used Instagram in their marketing as well. Tiffany and their mobile application development gurus hired fashion bloggers Scott Schuman and Garance Dore to document love stories in New York and Paris using their trusty Instagram apps. Couples could also submit Instagram-enhanced snaps to tell their own love stories.

Of course, you don’t have to be a megabrand like Nike to leverage Instagram in your marketing. This ubiquitous little app continues to grow its follower base everyday. Imagine, bringing a touch of grunge hipsterocity to your next marketing effort! It’s a snap.
